Nestled on Tasmania’s North West Coast, fifteen minutes from Devonport and just outside Ulverstone, our vineyard was planted in 2016 in a cool maritime climate influenced by nearly Bass Strait.
We grow 5 varieties: Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. The wines are available to taste and buy at our cellar door, set inside Windows on Westella, the on-site cafe.
Open seven days, Windows on Westella serves fresh meals and all-day dining alongside our award-winning wines, including tastings and cellar-door sales.

Our Process
Since Mike and Gaynor Broadby began farming in North West Tasmania in 1983, the family standard has been the same: the best quality, close attention to detail, and a hands-on role in every step. That approach shaped their broad-acre farming and, from 1999, their Tasmanian pickled onions.
Broad Acres Vineyard, planted in 2016, follows the same standard. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were first harvested in 2019, with Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling added later. Every bunch is hand-picked and made locally by winemaker Sierra Blair.
The 2022 Pinot Noir won gold at the Sydney Royal Wine Show in 2024, with further medals at the Sydney Royal, Royal Hobart and cool-climate shows through 2025.
Windows on Westella opened in 2017 as the cellar door. Open seven days, it offers tastings, cellar-door sales and all-day dining, with the family’s pickled onions on the seasonal menu.
Our coastal vineyard is located ideally between Ulverstone and Devonport on the Cradle Coast in an ideal maritime climate with Bass Strait to the North and Tasmania’s highland mountains to the South.
A mere stones throw from the ocean makes the perfect backdrop.

Windows on Westella cafe is a modern fully licenced cafe offering full table service and an extensive seasonal all-day menu hand crafted by our talented chefs.
The cafe is well known for the specialty dishes that feature pickled onions along with delicious gourmet dessert waffles.
Enjoy a wine or pickled onion tasting or let your senses go wild with our Tasmanian Vineyard Platter as you celebrate some of Tasmania’s locally produced food complimented by our award winning selection of Broad Acres Wines.
